Breadmaking and Lunch at Casa Taller Birdie

Submitted by carmine.nezi on

Personal chef and caterer Amor González built her culinary reputation through pop-up and clandestine dinners in unexpected locations and private gatherings at her own home-workshop, the Casa Taller Birdie. You’ll travel from Cartagena to her cottage near the Mar Menor. Inside this 19th-century house, with its traditional wood stove and bohemian-eclectic décor, the self-taught Gonzalez will guide you in making a home-style bread. Then you’ll sit down to enjoy a traditional multi-course lunch accompanied by your fresh-baked bread. Gonzalez has long championed Murcia’s renowned agricultural bounty and she showcases locally-sourced ingredients and artisanal products in her cooking. Begin with appetizers like goat cheese with rosemary, cured pork, olives, fried almonds and marinated artichokes. The main course includes eggplant pate, spiced chickpeas, couscous and stewed pork. Chocolate cake with ice cream makes for a sweet finish. In addition to preparing the delicious meal, Gonzalez aims to create a unique atmosphere, from setting the tables with antique and vintage linens, dishes, cutlery and glasses, to her choice in music. On this occasion, you’ll be treated to a Komorebi performance that makes for a truly unique and memorable dining experience.
