Santorini Sail and Swim

Submitted by carmine.nezi on

A magnet for volcanologists, Santorini marks the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history, resulting in a collapsed crater, or caldera, that created some of the world's most beautiful islands. On the southern coast of Santorini, board a luxurious catamaran to sail along the contrasting red and white beaches, around the western tip of the island, and into the caldera for glorious views of the soaring cliffs and lunar-like landscape. Head to the hot springs of Nea Kameni, one of the volcanic islands in the center of the caldera, for swimming, snorkeling and more scenic vistas. Sail on to the next swimming stop at the base of Black Mountain and then enjoy a traditional Greek lunch. At the conclusion of your cruise, drive to the village of Fira, perched high on Santorini’s cliffs. Walk through the iconic whitewashed, blue-domed architecture, admiring landmarks such as the picturesque Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, before descending back to the sea on the island’s cable car.
