Authentic Greek Cooking Class and Lunch

Submitted by carmine.nezi on

Be enveloped by the warmth of the Greek home kitchen with this small-group cooking class. Your hostess is an instructor and cookbook author who is passionate and knowledgeable about the history and regional specialties of Greek cuisine, from her native Cyprus, in the eastern Mediterranean, to the peninsula and the mainland. She limits her class to 10 to ensure an intimate atmosphere and personal attention. Over several hours, you’ll learn how to prepare and cook an authentic multi-course meal of Greek classics: the cucumber-yogurt dip tzatziki as the appetizer; a spinach and feta cheese pie (spanakopita) as a side dish; a Greek salad, seasoned with local herbs and spices; and gemista, a baked main dish of rice-stuffed vegetables (typically tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini and eggplant). For dessert you’ll taste layers of delicate sheets of phyllo pastry, filled with creamy custard to form, and bathed in a scented syrup, the delicious galaktompoureko. Your time in the kitchen will be rewarded when you sit down to eat these wonderful dishes, drink some wine and enjoy the company of new friends.
