Mykonos, Monastery and Mezedes

Submitted by carmine.nezi on

Renowned for its beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife, Mykonos is one of the most famous Greek islands. Take a scenic drive along lovely beaches and through the quaint villages of Agios Ioannis, Ornos and Kalafatis en route to Ano Mera. While it is the second biggest town on Mykonos, Ano Mera has the small-town feel of a traditional island village. Here you will tour the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani, founded in 1542 and dedicated to the protector of the island. The current architecture dates to the 18th century, and inside the chapel are icons of apostles and saints from the New Testament. Afterward in Ano Mera's main square, you may enjoy a glass of ouzo and some refreshing mezedes – traditional Greek small plates.
