Corfu Countryside and Paleokastritsa Caves

Submitted by carmine.nezi on

Explore Paleokastritsa, an area of unique beauty on the northwestern shore of Corfu. Rocky promontories cloaked in pine and cypress trees extend out into the sea, sheltering sandy bays and coves with azure waters glimmering under the bright sun. Enjoy a boat ride to the famous sea caves of Nafsika, Saint Nicholas and the Blue Eye, where geological formations, ground minerals and natural sunlight create amazing forms, colors and optical illusions. Stroll to the hilltop Byzantine monastery, home to a small community of monks, where you will see their church and have time to relax in their beautiful gardens. Winding streets then lead you higher into the hills to green olive groves and the remarkably scenic Bella Vista viewpoint, which overlooks Paleokastritsa. After stopping for photos, you will pass through the lovely Ropa Valley on your way back to the town of Corfu to enjoy free time in the historic Old Town.
