Cave and Beach Exploration

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This tour combines a visit to the Hato Caves, home to striking formations, with time on one of Curacao’s most beautiful white-sand beaches. Located on the island’s north coast, the caves sit atop a hill, making the temperature inside warm. Your guide describes how the caves emerged from the sea floor during the Ice Age while highlighting the most distinctive shapes among the dramatically illuminated stalactites, stalagmites and pools of water, including one called the Madonna. Learn how enslaved men and women fled bondage in the 19th century and hid here, the ceilings still black from the smoke of their torches. And be on the lookout for elusive members of a colony of long-nose fruit bats that shelter here. Then it’s on to Blue Bay Beach. Here your time is your own to relax in a beach chair, stroll on the white sands, and swim and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters.
