Island Summit Hike

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

After a scenic drive on the island’s only road, your trek starts with a gentle incline along dirt pathways and dry creeks through pastures and lightly wooded areas before entering thickly forested mountain slopes. The terrain becomes more challenging with rocks and boulders, loose gravel and dirt pathways complemented by sections of wooden walkways. As the ascent becomes much steeper, there are plenty of trees and rocks to provide a grip for both feet and hands. Much of the trek is in thickly wooded terrain, which gives shelter from the sun and affords the opportunity to appreciate the lush natural beauty. On the higher reaches of the mountain, the vegetation thins and the pathway is sandy and flatter. Then a short climb brings you to the peak where a gentle breeze cools you as you enjoy the magnificent views.
