Just over a mile long, the Oriole Trail cuts through dense rainforest to the top of Lawyer’s Mountain with its panoramic view of the island. You will see a plethora of birds, butterflies and unusual plants, and perhaps even spot the rare Montserrat Oriole, the island's national bird. Your guide Scriber, who was a forest ranger for 25 years, will point out tropical fruit trees like mango, guava, sugar apples and sour sop, point out medicinal bushes used by the locals, and regale you with colorful tales and folklore of Montserrat There are beautiful views from the cliffs along the way, and at the top of the mountain we recommend a snack at Hilltop Bar with its fascinating memorabilia of the way things were before the tragic 1995 volcanic eruption. This is perhaps the most popular trail, offering an authentic view of the rain forest and the best opportunity to see the Oriole.
